Bluegrass Double Reed Workshop 2024!
A workshop geared toward current and future band directors, participants will receive hands-on instruction on how to effectively start and support double reed students in your band programs!

Meet the Instructors
Dr. Brittany Giles is a professional bassoonist and passionate color guard educator based in Frankfort, KY. She is the founder and CEO of Studio G, LLC, a business designed to provide quality handmade bassoon reeds to pre-professional bassoonists and educators and superior education in both bassoon and color guard. Studio G maintains a high track record of successful placement in KMEA High School and Middle School All-State ensembles, as well as district and regional honor bands throughout the commonwealth.

Dr. Blake Johnson is instructor of oboe and musicology at Campbellsville University, where he teaches oboe lessons, studio, and reed class; graduate and undergraduate courses in music history and music appreciation; and coaches chamber music ensembles. In addition to his college teaching, Johnson maintains a private studio of students of all age levels and his students have consistently placed in All State and other honor ensembles in both Kansas and Kentucky.

Registration includes two-day hands-on instruction on the instrument of your choice and all handouts given by the instructors. Reeds for either instrument can be added on at checkout!
You will have the option of focus for the workshop: bassoon or oboe, but will receive information on BOTH instruments. |
